Who you NOT Calling Govie?

by a 2nd floor person

Govie: a term used by the students to refer to themselves as members of the GSSM student body.

First, The alma mater does NOT appear in the student handbook. Beth Novak, a senior last year, wrote the alma mater and she spent a considerable amount of time writing the music and words. After the alma mater was written, it was voted on, by the student body, and was accepted as the new alma mater. If you’ve got a problem with the alma mater, write a new one. Or maybe we should just change the word “govies” in the alma mater to “Governor’s School students” or even better, how about “GSSMs.” That would sound so much better.

Next, Why in the hell would our alma mater show up in podiatrist’s office, and why would those people even care? Are you so egotistic that you think everyone in the world cares that we have the word “govie” in our school song?  If I were in “let’s say, a podiatrist’s office,” I think I would have bigger worries than song lyrics.

We are not “complete and utter losers,” only you are. As for preaching on the streets, the general population of Hartsville (or any town for that matter) isn’t very smart.  Since you would fit in so well, maybe you could tell them about math, physics, and biology.  The rest of us would surely be too busy studying to go out.  And to really convince them we are “govie dorks,” we might want to start taking our books and calculators with us to the movies or under the bushes

I am a Govie and proud of it

P.S.

Just so you know, the brand name of diazepam is spelled V-A-L-I-U-M, not v-a-l-u-u-m
