You
juniors don't know about TFJ yet. So I'll write a history sometime.
For
now, why Transfinite Joy? Why
is the GSSM underground literary journal named Transfinite Joy?
Transfinite
Joy is what describes the our... or my... experience at GSSM.
It is the summation of everything that we've done.
So,
Transfinite Joy is a lot of things.
Transfinite
Joy is the first day of GSSM... as a senior.
Transfinite
Joy is the second day of GSSM... as a junior... when you guys
carry our furniture.
Transfinite
Joy is waking up five minutes before class and getting breakfast
on the way. And checking your mail in the lab. And at the SUB.
Transfinite
Joy is being late.
Transfinite
Joy is using govieisms. Around normal people. And acting surprised
when they don't understand.
Transfinite
Joy is the Govie dances - dancing 60's style.
Transfinite
Joy is a Fields test that you've overstudied for.
Transfinite
Joy is a History test, one that you haven't studied for.
Because of the Fields Test. That you failed anyway.
Transfinite
Joy is knowing that it doesn't matter. Shhhhhhh!
Transfinite Joy is encountering something hard to resist, and
not resisting it. Thus, Transfinite Joy is being anonymous and
dropping subtle hints everywhere.
Transfinite
Joy is... not starting every sentence the same way.
Saying,
"Pikachu, I choose you!" is Transfinite Joy. Okay,
maybe not
It's
guessing answers on your Bhuvena Quiz that you haven't studied
for. After all, they're not like Bill quizzes so you don't have
to study as hard, right?
Sometimes
it's getting a writeup for something especially brave.
And
it is getting an A on a well-prepared test.
Transfinite
Joy is suddenly using the old parallelism after five sentences.
Transfinite
Joy is a scromp walk.
Transfinite
Joy is a scromp walk. A thousand times, a scromp walk.
Hold
me... hold me close.
I keep trying to explain what it is to go to GSSM to other people. You really have to be here. And guess what? You are. Now don't pull a Matt England on us.
