Drive
me away from here
by anonymo the nameless
Drive
me away from here.
This point, drive me away from it.
You are the point.
And slowly I am being driven away.
Stop! Yield to me!
Failure to yield.
"I'm sorry officer didn't see the signs."
Yeah, flashing "Girl, Girl, Girl" signs with free candy are easy to miss.
Oh well, maybe next time.
What if there wasn't a next time?
What if I just drive away?
There are other points to joyride with.
I get half way to a new, happy paradise point.
Driven back. Why, cruel gods?
I stop at a carwash.
Buffed, shined, new leather, the works.
Fire engine red.
My engine revs. I screech into the night.
Signs to other points try to entice me.
No! I have a destination.
Arrival. Parking lot. Park. Wait.
My car pales with dust, cobwebs, rust.
I crank the engine and sputter into the night.
Only to return in the morning.
