An ode to unecessary regulations
by Allison Garrett

My straps are too thin,
My shoes don't have soles,
And Oops, my cleavage is showing .
So they pull me aside
And give me an 8 o'clock
For disturbing the students of G-school.

I have a history test tomorrow,
And it's twelve o'clock.
So I gather my books
and sit on my ass in the common room.
My roommate forgets to turn off the light,
And it's work detail for two on Thursday.

I just finshed all my homework
And I have a chance to talk to someone
Outside the four walls of my room,
(10% of which are covered with flammable posters),
But it's ten twenty and by the time I get down from fourth floor
Everyone is coming upstairs again.

I went to my mandatory work service,
Which I go to for the same time each week,
And when I returned there was no pen in sight,
So the space under time in stayed blank.
The next day there's a yellow slip in my box,
And I'm never signing out again.

After Drama on Friday I go upstairs to sleep.
When I wake up it's 7:30.
Five o'clock is long gone
And the RLC doesn't care that I was in the Res. Hall,
Because, after all, I wasn't downstairs,
And I therefore wasn't anywhere at all.
