Hindsight

I'd like to ask those who have never had a happy hour or cinderblocks or lofts, or no lights out on weekends, or 1am lights out, etc... to QUIT WHINING. Why don't you complain about Mr. Greer and Mr. Major being run off by DD? I hope some of my classmates will agree with me that you have no right to complain about something you never had. Your new dress code sounds pretty horrendous, and that they actually enforce the rules bites, so you have plenty complain about without pining to return to what you never had.

In case you haven't noticed, though, the school is always changing, with half the students and almost all res life being replaced each fall. And the school is finally old enough that those who have literally "been there forever" are leaving. Our class said fairwell to Squi and Squier, Dr. Cox is gone. Dr. Bill is no longer teaching Billology. Sure, I've heard that this new Bio lady maintains the 30-92 range on tests, but I bet she doesn't use the words "in essence" or "litrally" (in case you didn't notice, this is where Mrs. Martin (who is also gone, I may add) got her phrases that kept me awake in LLS trying to keep up with "the count"). On the other hand, we welcomed in the Longs and Dr. G, and Bhuvana, a few of the student favorites. Bob Trowell is gone. Dr. Smith, Mrs. Winburn, Dr. Hendrick, and Mrs. Rutherford probably won't work in the new building.

I will not go so far as some of my classmates and say that the school is "going to hell" because like I said, the new teachers are good, however different they may be. We say, "You're not a real Govie unless you had Dr. Bill AND Dr. Hendrick AND Mrs. Martin." By this standard, I am a real govie, though I got an A in only one of these classes, and it WASN'T Strife and Seizures. A few years from now, there will be a completely new benchmark for being a "TRUE govie" that will exclude me and you.
