The Report that Happens to Come From Clemson

So far there has been a Furman Report and a USC Report and I have no intention of copying the title of either one of them. This is, however, a report that happens to come from Clemson.

This is just a brief composition designed to inspire preparation for college. When deciding whether to use the word "you," "I," or "we," in reference to the general population who goes to college and the masses that
are about to, I decided to use "we" since it is a more personal word that still includes everybody. I just anted to explain that, since the use of the word "we" is a little awkward in this report.

Get prepared to find yourself again. It seems that when we get to college, many things that we considered to be stable parts of our character are called into question. Not directly, of course, but very indirectly, through the complete openness of university life. If elementary school was like a little toy house, middle school a playground, high school a convention center and Gschool a private clubhouse, then college is an open field with no trees or fences or anything. I hope that this rather abstract analogy makes sense. The point is that the sheer open possibilities of college, rather than immediately empowering us, takes nearly everything away (I stress the word "nearly"). We suddenly have to work to find out where we stand.

I suppose this is a rather vague report, but it is the best I could do.
Very sincerely, Catherine B.
