there is currently, as i write, a debate going on in
the lobby about values and morality and the views of
shige. i don't where it will end but the people began
to get loud and talk fast so i came here. i have a
hard time organizing thoughts in order on paper, but
i'll try my best. shige had the view that he didn't
care or judge anything and should only glorify God for
his entire life. he claims to have no moraity, for a
reason i could not catch completely but had something
to do with it's definition or source and wheather
reality is real. the idea soon reminded me of the
phlosophy of Pink Floyd and the tale of planks and
splinters. Pink expressed the idea that all conflicts
arise from one person expressing or imposing their
views on another. therefore, a person should never
share thier views. prehaps this is something like what
shige was refering to when he talked about never
judging anyone. but why do we share or even enforce
our views? why don't we? from experience i know that
i only share my views with people i care about. if
care nothing for a person, it makes no difference to
me what they think about anything. there are of course
other reasons, to share or even enforce ideas(mainly
fear) but i don't think they have much to do with the
conversation at hand. the tale of planks and splinters
comes from Jesus. He was refering to hypocracy and the
pharisees. he said that if someone has a plank in
their eye, not to bother their brother with a splinter
he may have in his eye. first you are to take the
plank out of your own eye and then is the time address
the splinter in your brother's eye. this draws the
line between hypocracy and helping others to do well
in their life. the blind can't lead the blind, but if
you can see, you are to help others. in order to help
someone you must first determine that they are in need
of help. how can someone acknowlege God and still say
they do not know what morality is? If you say that God
is your ultimate authority, then you must also say
that His message is above all others and what He says
is undisputed. By message, of course, i mean the bible
(and no additional books) and therefore a guide of
maorality can be found there.
