I wish to give some differing views on video games. If any one else wants to improve my arguement, go ahead and work on it.

Art is communication. I am going to use the Wikipedia’s attempt at a definition of art, which is quite good:

“…art is the process and the product of choosing a medium, a set of rules for the use of that medium, and a set of values that determine what deserves to be expressed through that medium, in order to convey either a belief, an idea, a sensation, or a feeling in the most effective way possible for that medium.” (You can read the whole article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art here.)

So we have two parts to art: a medium and a way to express sensations or ideas in an effective way.

Now, how can we say that video games do not fit that mold? Games have a medium. A platform. Metaphors of communication. The same way when we see a fade in a movie, we know we are changing locations. When we see something flashing in a video game, you have to go to it.
