Richard Rorty (1931 - ) is an American philosopher known for his espousal of pragmatism and denial that many philosophical problems are solvable or relevant. Rorty believes that there is no external truth “out there,” and that we should abandon attempts model our mental models “accurately.” Instead, we should focus, pragmatically, on saying that some solutions work and others do not.
